Current Volunteer Opportunities in Nigeria
Veterans Mobile Health Outreach Assistant
Support VVS Nigeria's mobile health clinics during veteran health screenings, distribute medications, and provide basic health education to veterans and their families. No medical degree required β training provided.
Literacy & Adult Education Tutor
Teach basic literacy, numeracy, and digital skills to veterans who missed formal education during service years. Help them build confidence and economic independence in civilian life through structured weekly sessions.
Community Development Project Lead
Lead local community initiatives β school renovation, borehole construction, road rehabilitation, and environmental clean-up β in partnership with veteran volunteers and state government liaison offices across Nigeria.
Vocational Skills Trainer
Train veterans in tailoring, carpentry, welding, plumbing, and ICT. Help retired service members build sustainable livelihoods and economic independence after active duty through NABTEB-aligned vocational programs.
Veterans Welfare Visitor
Visit elderly and isolated veterans in homes or care facilities. Provide companionship, assist with errands, link them to VVS Nigeria welfare resources. One of the most deeply human and impactful roles we offer.
Youth Mentorship Coordinator
Coordinate mentorship between veteran volunteers and young Nigerians aged 15β25. Guide youth in career development, life skills, discipline, and civic responsibility β inspired by the values of military service.
Mental Health Peer Support Volunteer
Work alongside VVS Nigeria's clinical team to provide peer support, facilitate group sessions, and assist veterans managing PTSD, depression, and transition anxiety. Full training provided before deployment.
Scholarship Program Coordinator
Manage applications, selection, and disbursement for VVS Nigeria's scholarship program for children of fallen and retired veterans. Coordinate with universities, donors, and beneficiary families across Nigeria.
Events & Outreach Volunteer
Help organise VVS Nigeria's community events, veteran summits, fundraising drives, and public awareness campaigns. Ideal for energetic individuals with events management or communications experience.

No. VVS Nigeria welcomes volunteers from all backgrounds β veterans, civilians, students, professionals, and retirees. What matters most is your commitment to serving others.
Volunteer roles are unpaid. However, volunteers receive official certificates, references, training, and may be eligible for travel and meal allowances on certain deployments.
Time commitments vary by role β from a few hours on weekends to part-time weekday engagements. Each opportunity listing clearly states the expected time commitment.
Yes. All volunteers attend a mandatory orientation session and receive role-specific training before deployment. Ongoing support is provided by your zone coordinator throughout your service.
Some roles such as the Scholarship Program Coordinator and digital communications positions can be done remotely. Most community and health roles require physical presence in-state.
After submitting your application, you will receive a response within 5β7 working days. Successful applicants will be invited to an orientation session within 2 weeks of acceptance.
